Maria Glowaski

DVM, DACVAA

Dr. Maria M. Glowaski (Dr. Glow) is a board certified veterinary anesthesiologist with over three decades of experience. She has a passion for evidence-based and advanced pain management strategies. After graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, she completed an internship in anesthesiology/ICU/critical care medicine also at Tufts. She then completed her anesthesiology residency at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and in 2000 became a board-certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia.

Her clinical interests include cardiovascular and pulmonary mechanics, mechanical ventilation and both acute and chronic pain management. She is actively involved in elevating the standards of care for veterinary patients undergoing anesthesia by enthusiastically developing and expanding multimodal pain relief options both at Lenity and via invited lectures and hands-on training.

Dr. Glowaski is an educator at heart, having been on the faculty of several veterinary schools, lecturing both nationally and internationally, written numerous veterinary anesthesia articles, contributed to veterinary textbooks, and authored a veterinary anesthesia textbook herself. She has designed and led both introductory and advanced anesthesia courses for veterinarians, veterinary students, interns, residents and technicians. And she takes immense pride in having coached multiple technicians to achieve their VTS (Veterinary Technician Specialist) certification in anesthesia by enthusiastically fostering a culture of curiosity and professional growth.

She prioritizes a collaborative team approach to anesthesia, ensuring that every member of the patient care team is more than just capable of performing anesthesia but also understands the “why” behind protocols and can develop complex problem-solving strategies. While passionately serious about patient care, she believes a veterinary hospital should be a place of both productivity and camaraderie; always bringing a sense of humor and positivity to the entire team.

Outside of work, Dr. Glowaski actively trains her soulmate, Zenna, a black American Labrador for field trials and Zen proudly wears four blue ones as proof of their intense collaborative teamwork. She also enjoys creating lavish dinners for friends and most likely was a professional chef in a former life.
