Hi, my name is Micaela Stoia, and I am a Registered Veterinary Technician at Lenity Vet Specialists + Emergency Care. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I have a deep passion for saltwater aquatics and reef keeping, with a strong interest in marine and coral preservation. I also enjoy scuba diving and snorkelling, agility training with my Australian Shepherds, and volunteering on dairy farms and at large animal hospitals here in San Mateo, CA. At home I share my life with Hubble, my heart-and-soul Aussie Shepherd, Zenna, a black Lab adopted in memory of a dear friend, and Nimoy, who holds the title of best kitty in the world.
Education
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies and International Trade, with a Minor in Biology, from California State University Channel Islands in 2019. I went on to complete my Associate of Arts in Veterinary Technology at Carrington College, San Leandro in 2025, where I also earned my RVT licence.
Certifications
I hold a RECOVER certification in both Basic and Advanced Life Support from the RECOVER Initiative (2025), reflecting my advanced training in evidence-based veterinary CPR and emergency response. I am also CAETA certified through the Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy and Lap of Love, with specialised training in compassionate end-of-life care and client support. I am additionally licensed as a Registered Veterinary Technician by the California Veterinary Medical Board (2025).

I am a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS).
Work History
My animal care journey began at the Oakland Zoo, where I served as a Barn Ranger from 2013 to 2015, caring for caprine, ovine, and swine species. I then worked as a Veterinary Assistant at Camarillo Veterinary Hospital from 2016 to 2018, gaining experience in anaesthesia monitoring, dentistry, and pharmacy. Concurrently, I spent nearly a decade at Petco Animal Supplies in roles ranging from Animal Care Lead to Store Manager, overseeing aquatics, avian, and reptile departments. Most recently, I worked at Park Centre Animal Hospital in both reception and veterinary assistant capacities before joining Lenity Vet Specialists + Emergency Care.
